My Background

I was born and raised locally on a dairy farm in rural Rice. I attended Royalton Public Schools and graduated from SCSU with a degree in special education. My first job was in the St. Michael - Albertville School District where I taught as an E/BD teacher at the junior and senior high schools. I moved back to the Sauk Rapids - Rice School District in 2000 and have been at Rice Elementary the last 10 years. I received my master degree through Southwest State University in 2003 in the areas of leadership and evoking change within the educational system. I am active in a number of committees both at the building and district level.

My family and I make our home in rural Rice. My wife Judy and I have four boys who are aged 13, 11, 9 and 7. Our boys attend school in the SRR district, and they keep us very busy at home.
